How it works

You choose the shape of the path.

IMF begins with recordings you have already released. Your choices shape how the catalog is prepared, how listeners meet it, and where they return to play the music.

A cello and music stands wait on a warmly lit concert stage.

Four clear steps

The music stays with the services that host it. The route becomes easier to follow.

Each step begins with your choices.

  1. 01

    Choose your sources.

Choose Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, TIDAL, Deezer, and RUTUBE. A supplied list can add recordings that live elsewhere. Support for Dailymotion, SoundCloud, Bilibili, and Facebook Video is planned for 2027.

IMF collects catalog information directly from the streaming services you select, through each service’s own lookup service. It brings their different formats into one shared format, removes duplicates, and cleans up details. IMF then organizes its catalog to match the U.S. Library of Congress authority records for names, subject headings, genre and form terms, and medium of performance thesaurus. These gold-standard references reflect the combined judgment of leading national and academic libraries, helping create a clear, dependable catalog of works, recordings, releases, people, credits, and service links.

  2. 02

    Shape the listener experience.

Choose from 13 supported languages for your app and catalog: English, Russian, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch/Flemish, Polish, Romanian, Czech, Bulgarian, and Serbian in Cyrillic. Language support is separate from country and streaming-service availability. IMF works with each musician to choose launch countries and prepare the regional catalog information and service links for that audience.

  3. 03

Prepare a personalized app under your name.

IMF prepares a personalized phone or tablet app under your performer or organization name, together with its metadata pack, for submission to the App Store and Google Play. Store review is separate.

  4. 04

Let fans follow your music through your personalized app.

Fans use the personalized phone or tablet app under your name to discover, save, share, and open recordings on the services that host them. Playback remains with those services; IMF does not host or play music.
